190 Ramadan food baskets delivered to displaced families across four locations in Sudan

We distributed 190 Ramadan food baskets to displaced families across four hard-to-reach locations in Sudan. Each basket contained staple grains, pulses, cooking oil, and dates, all purchased from a wholesale retailer to maximise value, and the supplier handled packing and delivery, keeping additional costs to zero.

Rows of pink and white branded food sacks arranged outside a brick building beneath an Arabic and English banner in Darfur.
The baskets went to Wad Alnoura (40, for families of martyrs and vulnerable households), Heridanah Village in White Nile State (50, for families caring for orphaned children), Hafeer Al-Safi Village in West Gezira (75, for families facing severe food insecurity), and Abuhubaira (25, for displaced and low-income households). Over 1,000 people received support in total.

Rows of pink fabric bags topped with brown bundled parcels arranged in a grid pattern on a sandy ground.

Market prices for food items kept shifting, which meant constant budget adjustments, and a sharp rise in newly displaced families pushed demand well beyond what we could cover. We prioritised the most vulnerable households through community-led coordination and flexible planning.

Next, we are focusing on expanding our community kitchens to provide daily meals to more displaced families and strengthening basic healthcare access through our medical clinic.
