150 girls in Ngamba receive menstrual kits and training

Posted 20 Oct 2025
We’re pleased to share the sixth progress update for Phase 2 of the Wings Poa Reusable Sanitary Pad Project, supported by Kwanda.
The project continues to make meaningful strides in reducing period poverty and empowering girls in rural Kenya. With the recent arrival of PUL fabric, production has resumed, and distribution is now actively underway.
At Ngamba Secondary School, we reached 150 girls with Wings Poa menstrual kits. This effort not only addressed menstrual hygiene needs but also helped reduce the stigma surrounding menstruation.
Conducted a training on personal hygiene and how to stay clean during menstruation to prevent infections
Created a safe space for girls to talk openly about menstruation and break the stigma
Taught girls how to use a calendar to track their menstrual cycles and better understand their bodies
Demonstrated how to use the Wings Poa Kit to ensure they feel confident using it
Distributed menstrual kits to 150 girls at Ngamba Secondary School
With production continuing, our next distribution will take place at Lower Yatta Girls Secondary School.
We are very grateful that our girls have received kits. My female teachers were forced to share their pads with the students, which was a big challenge. Now, this challenge has been solved, and our girls are empowered to manage their periods. There will be no more stigma on menstruation!
