Kit production nears completion as distribution phase begins

We are pleased to share the progress in preparing the WingsPoa Reusable Sanitary Pad kits for distribution. Our dedicated LitMoms have been working hard sewing the kits, while the Kenya Connect team has been screen printing the drawstring bags. The bags are an essential component of the kit, designed to ensure discretion and ease of carrying the sanitary pads.

To date, 436 WingsPoa kits have been carefully sewn, with production running smoothly and on track to reach our target of 650 kits. The additional kits will be sewn in the next few weeks, bringing us to 650 kits produced. All 650 drawstring bags have been successfully screen-printed, and a total of Ksh. 103,880 has been paid out to five LitMoms for their labour in making the reusable Sanitary pads.

With the April school break complete, we are preparing to launch the distribution of these kits, along with a series of workshops on menstrual health and hygiene education, proper use and care of the kits, and fostering open and informed discussions about menstruation. We make sure that these workshops are a safe space for girls to ask questions.

Through these workshops, students will gain practical knowledge on using reusable pads, maintaining hygiene, and managing menstruation in school. Each workshop will include hands-on demonstrations and opportunities for students to ask questions in a supportive environment. We proudly equip students with the resources and education they need to manage their menstrual health confidently.

Rosalia, a LitMom, commented: I am so grateful for the chance to make the kits. I now have the money to send to my son to pay for his housing and upkeep while at the university.

Jacqueline, a Kenya Connect Staff, commented: It's truly exciting to witness the glow on the LitMoms' faces every time they get to create the Wings Poa Reusable Sanitary kits. Seeing these women empowered and knowing they can support their families with their income fills me with deep joy.
