LitMoms begin sewing 650 menstrual kits for schoolgirls in Kenya

We have successfully purchased all necessary fabric materials and engaged five women in our 'LitMoms' program, who are currently sewing up the kits for the next distribution of kits to 650 girls.

A survey on menstrual health and hygiene was conducted in early March among eight schools, highlighting key challenges students face, such as limited access to affordable menstrual products and lack of awareness of menstrual hygiene.

During the remaining days of March and the entire month of April, our LitMoms will be busy making the WingsPoa kits while the Kenya Connect staff will be branding them. We hope the kits will be completed by the end of April. We plan to distribute them to students during May and June while conducting menstrual health workshops to promote better menstrual hygiene.

Elizabeth, a Lit Mom, commented:

No words can express the joy in my heart. My son needed a huge amount of money for his university exam, and I didn't have the money, but then I was told that there were kits that were needed and I could be part of the Lit Moms to make the kits and earn the money I needed.
